Lock
Nabtesco's new NK6 knee joint features a unique 6-axis polycentric structure, which ensures stability during the limb support phase. The p-MRS system, which is the original mechanical sensing mechanism, automatically detects the state of gait and then adjusts stability accordingly. Adjusts the stability accordingly. The knee flexion adjustment function during the support phase and the smooth transfer of the limb, provided by a hydraulic cylinder, ensure that the user walks comfortably.
P-MRS SYSTEM
The p-MRS (Polycentric-Mechanism of Reaction force Sensing) system is an innovative mechanical sensor that operates on the basis of the reaction force of the support. The p-MRS system responds to the position of the body's total center of gravity (TGC), and the knee joint controls its own stability according to the position.
The p-MRS system geometrically locks the knee joint from heel-to-surface contact until mid-stance to prevent instability, and then during the pre-assist phase naturally and smoothly releases the lock to transition to the assist phase.
ADJUSTABLE KNEE FLEXION DURING THE SUPPORT PHASE
The knee assembly provides flexion during the stance phase from heel contact to mid-stance. This results in cushioning during heel contact and reduces sway of the LST. The amount of knee flexion during the stance phase can be easily adjusted up to a maximum of 10 degrees by tightening or loosening the adjustment screw located at the bottom of the knee assembly. The hydraulic cylinder also helps to dampen the movement of the knee assembly for smooth extension of the knee during the support phase.
SMOOTH HANDLING WITH THE HYDRAULIC CYLINDER
Thanks to an optimized design, the hydraulic cylinder has two distinctive characteristics.
- Initiating the transfer is very easy and simple - As a result, the user has a lower initial knee flexion resistance and reduced energy consumption compared to conventional hydraulic knee units.
- The cylinder is very powerful, has a compact hydraulic design and responds well to different pitch frequencies.
SELECTIVE LOCK (OPTIONAL)
A locking system is optionally available for the NK6 knee assembly. This feature assists the user by providing maximum stability whenever it is needed. It is useful, for example, when working in the garden, climbing stairs, walking on snowy roads, rehabilitation/training, or in other situations where the user needs maximum stability. This function prevents the knee from bending, but knee flexion during the support phase remains available even in the locked mode.

GAIT CONTROL
The p-MRS system seamlessly switches from the transfer phase to the support phase for a smooth and natural gait.
The point of perception
The p-MRS system is an original mechanical sensor that uses the principle of a polycentric linkage system. It detects the position of the support reaction force around the sensing point and automatically monitors the stability of the knee joint.

Description
Selective lock mechanism
At any time, the user can switch between free knee and locked knee modes. If the user feels unsafe with the knee being free, for example on settled snow, in high winds, or on uneven ground, to prevent buckling, the knee can be locked.
At other times, such as when standing on a ladder working or when making a golf swing, locking the knee is also convenient.
Hydraulic cylinder system
Conventional hydraulic cylinders make the initial swing heavy, and tiredness soon results. Using special technology, with an initial swing that feels as light as with a pneumatic cylinder, it is now possible to walk easily using hydraulics.
The knee joint has been made still more compact by enabling control of high output even from a small-capacity hydraulic cylinder.
Extension assist spring
While standing, one cause of knee buckling with polycentric knee joints is incomplete extension.
Because the extension assist spring maintains knee extension, even users with low-mobility can walk safely.
Max.flexion 170°
