On 30 June 2016 Ukrainian company “Nertus”, together with company Freedom Innovations, conducted a conference on the topic “Lower limb prosthetics using the latest technologies of company Freedom Innovations”. Freedom Innovations is the company from the USA with more than 30 years of experience in using composite carbon materials and creating components to prosthetic devices corresponding to the highest technological and construction requirements, thus making Freedom Innovations company a world leader in the field.
The conference objective was to demonstrate advantages of Freedom Innovations carbon feet to Ukrainian prosthetic technicians, to familiarise with peculiarities of their selection, mounting and use considering individual needs of a patient. Microprocessor knee joint PLIE was also demonstrated to conference guests. The knee joint is a unique Freedom Innovations development comprising the latest and the most progressive design in the area of prosthetics. PLIE knee joint has a capacity of 24 hours of continuous movement, it is waterproof, possesses a convenient battery charge level indication and retains main functions, even if the battery is discharged. Maximum knee joint load is 166 kg. Within the framework of the conference, Ukrainian specialists were trained to mount, to do technical maintenance and to adjust PLIE knee joint.
For the purpose of the knee joint and carbon feet practical demonstration, the conference organisers invited the patient from Germany, who is an active user of Freedom Innovations products.
During the conference, modern components to prostheses were demonstrated to the guests. Due to them, the people who had amputation may return to a full-fledged active lifestyle. The demonstrated components can be used in severe weather conditions without any losses in the quality of walking, they are comfortable for driving. All components are easily replaceable.
Head of Odessa branch of Non-Governmental Organisation “Ukrainian Association of Handicapped People due to ATO (Anti-Terrorism Operation)” Taras Koval has become a special guest of the conference. Mr. Koval was invited for familiarisation with the latest possibilities in the area of lower limb prosthetics.
